Local avant-metal titans Xmas Lights split up this week, saying that ‘for want of a better term, life got in the way’, as various members’ other commitments got in the way. The band will play one last show in Oxford, which is currently being organised. Umair Chaudry is in the process of forming a new outfit, with members James and Dave also making plans for a new project in 2009. The band’s unique and exploratory take on metal, industrial and experimental noise will be much missed on the Oxford scene.
