Charliestock: The Black Horse, Kidlington 31 July- 2 August

Wristbands are now on sale priced four pounds for Charliestock, a new music festival taking place on the weekend of 31 July at The Black Horse pub in Kidlington, north of Oxford. The wristband, obtainable from the pub,  allows entry to the entire event, but tickets are available on the door for each day at the same price. Friday’s highlights includes melodic punk from Secret Rivals and The Scarletts, Saturday sees alt-folk trio Ute take centre stage alongside post-punks Vixens and excellent garage rockers The Elrics. On Sunday there is delicate country from The Roundheels and shambolic rocktronica from Thin Green Candles. Proceeds go towards ‘Children in Touch’, a charity which supports local children with autism.

    I think things start at 7 on the friday. We’re on at about 8.15 ish.

    Really looking forward to this now, hope to see folk down for Friday despite what some haters spit Scarletts will kill it im sure (and if they dont we will have a bloody good go)

    It will be a showcase of youth and energy! (fingers crossed)

    By the way, checking the IP and e-mail addresses, the ‘Joe’ posting sarky comments isn’t your old pal Mr Chapman, it’s just some plonker with nothing better to do. I thought of deleting it, but I guess we’ll all live with Joe H’s pearls of wisdom. Best of luck to all the acts at Charliestock-might well come down (up!) for the Saturday evening show.

    I didnt think for a moment it was just someone who dont like a lot of bands (nowt wrong with that)

    right so begins my 56 month challenge! (6 months without looking at any oxmusic web site)

    A bit of a shit time to start seeing as im expecting reviews up in the next few weeks but hey im not one to back down from a challenge.

    But before i do…Come on Friday it will be reet good come say hi to us hit the tequilas and then make a tit of yourselg jumping round like a loon to the angry music x
