Stornoway sign to 4AD

Oxfordbands favourites Stornoway have signed to iconic indie label 4AD, joining a roster that boasts the likes of Bon Iver, The Big Pink, The National, Scott Walker and TV On The Radio. A&R Ed Horrox, who signed the band on behalf of 4AD says “I have been waiting patiently for Stornoway, a British band that can effortlessly hold their own alongside 4AD’s American friends. Both on record and live Stornoway manage to whip up a mighty storm while avoiding bombastic gestures and retaining artistic subtlety. At the centre of all this is Brian Briggs, singing his beguiling lyrics with his uniquely beautiful and unpretentious voice.” 4AD will pick up the current single, ‘I Saw You Blink’, due for release on 22nd March, and which is currently enjoying strong support at Radio1.  Their debut album, Beachcomber’s Windowsill is set for release on 24th May. An interview with the band will follow in a day or two’s time.

    Congratulations! Fully deserved.

Now, don’t let them put reverb and chorus all over everything, OK?
