The annual Charlbury Riverside Festival opens this Saturday. Now in its fifteenth year, Riverside plays host to a number of excellent local bands over two days, set on an island meadow within tromping distance of the Wychwood Forest. It’s also free.
Saturday’s lineup is headlined by virtuosic glam-rockers Borderville, with manic electro-rockers The Delta Frequency and sophisticated folk rockers Family Machine also gracing the main stage. Camp rock from Barbare11a and laid-back bluegrass from The Roundheels are on offer on the second stage.
Sunday features preternaturally cheerful electronic acoustic pop from Alphabet Backwards , piano driven pop from Sheffield’s Dead like Harry, who have been supporting Scouting for Girls (well, someone has to) and melodic, slightly raucous indie rock from The Black Hats. This only scratches the surface, so go to the website for full details of lineups. Etc. Did we mention it’s free?
