  • Benjy

Nightshift editor – Ronan Munro, Music In Oxford editor – Colin MacKinnon, Oxford Music Scene editor – Stewart Garden.

Is this some kind of Scottish music mafia takeover?

  • Beaver Fuel

Except surely Ronan and Munro are Irish names…?

  • colinmackinnon

Actually, Ronan does have Scottish roots, so Benjy has finally rumbled our cunning plan. Next NME editor: Jock McTavish.

  • Ronan

The name Munro probably originated in Ireland but the clan name was established in Scotland (in Ross to be specific) back in the 11th Century. I’m half Scottish (slightly more after a few drinks), half Yorkshire. A Munro is also the name of any Scottish mountain over 3,000 feet. Though ironically I’m terrified of heights.
Ronan is a Gaelic name, so either Irish or Scottish. It means seal cub. Which would explain why I’m so damn cute.

But yeah, we’re taking over. That bloke with the bagpipes in Cornmarket Street is on the next Nightshift front cover.

  • Beaver Fuel

It’s a braw bricht nichtshift tae nicht.

Oddly I read that as “seal club”, which is quite appropriate on occasion!

“I’m half Scottish (slightly more after a few drinks”
    i resemble that remark!
