The Winchell Riots - Red Square EP

Debut EP from The Winchell Riots, with a little tour to go alongside

The Winchell Riots, formed a couple of years ago from the ashes of the sorely-missed Fell City Girl, release their debut EP proper on 20 September. The Red Square EP will be released on the band’s own Andrew The Great Records, in a limited edition of 300 numbered CDs, as well as a limited run of 300 stickered and numbered glorious-looking 10″ vinyl records.

The four-track EP contains ‘Love, The Great Olympic Sport’, ‘My Young Arms’, ‘Glasgow Spaceflight’ and the seven-minute ‘Red Square’. It was produced by Sam Williams, whose previous production credits include Supergrass, Plan B and The Noisettes. The delicious artwork is by Rian Hughes, who the nerdlier amongst you may recognise as the artist behind many a 2000AD or DC Comics comic strip.

The EP release is being marked by a short tour, which takes in Bristol, Portsmouth, Chichester and Cambridge, before finally seeing the band alight in Oxford at the O2 Academy on 25 September, where the official release takes place. You can pre-order the EP from the band’s website, and even opt for one of those new-fangled MP3 downloads with your purchase if you can’t wait for the physical release.
