Unsilent Night in November: bring your ghetto blasters

Oxford Contemporary Music has an interesting shindig going down on 26 November. They’re presenting Phil Kline’s ‘Unsilent Night’, a ‘heartwarming musical creation of twinkling percussion, ethereal voices and resonating bell sounds’ in Oxford. The piece was created by New York-based composer Kline in 1992, and has since been performed across the world.

Oxfordians are encouraged to take part by carrying ghetto blasters and other sound-making devices, with the music being duplicated and amplified to kick off some Christmas spirit. OCM are looking for people to get involved, either by lending said sound-making devices, or just by taking part. If that floats your Christmas-pudding-shaped boat, contact Victoria Bosher of OCM on 01865 488369, or e-mail info@ocmevents.org.

The event starts at 8.00 pm on 26 November, with the promenade leading the way from Radcliffe Square. Jingle bells!
