The oddly-named promotions outfit HasLegs aim to continue to put on a show each month from early 2011 onwards. They’ve been promoting for a couple of months now, and as organising chappie Ash explained to us: “We’re not about creating any kind of ‘scene’ – we’ve taken inspiration from the likes of 3 Blind Mice and several other out-of-town promoters. It’s about putting on a night that makes sense, so both headline and support acts have a better shot at reaching a more receptive audience.”
Indeed, we’re told that Secret Rivals and Alphabet Backwards, who played a previous HasLegs night in October, met for the first time at the show, and have since been very supportive of the others’ music-making from then on. Ain’t that nice?
The next HasLegs night will see Black Hats, Secret Rivals and King Of Cats rocking up at the Port Mahon in Oxford on 28 January. Any artists interested in playing future shows can contact Ash to find out more. Beyond the regular shows, HasLegs are also planning to branch out into being a record label as well as developing their website to feature more information and background on bands they’re involved with.
Do you HasLegs? Next year, very possibly.
