Spires cover - featuring spires

‘Spires’ compilation showcases some of the best Oxford bands right now

Spires is an outstanding new compilation of tracks from Oxford bands that will be available to download, for free, from Tuesday 11 January. The collection is the work of Aaron Delgado of Phantom Theory, who decided to pull it together to help showcase the tip-top state of Oxford music right now, and build on the Oxfordcentric focus created by column inches for Jon Spira’s Anyone Can Play Guitar movie and the Blessing Force collective.

The tracks were all donated for free by the bands. Who are those bands? It’s an impressive list: Black Hats, Dial F For Frankenstein, Phantom Theory, Secret Rivals, Coloureds, The Winchell Riots, Gunning For Tamar, The Rock Of Travolta, Alphabet Backwards, Ute, Spring Offensive, Dead Jerichos, The Half Rabbits, Vixens and Keyboard Choir (the last in the list in the guise of their remix of a track by Laki Mera).

Find out more about the compilation here, and remember that date – Tuesday 11 January. That’s when the Spires website will switch on the download link and help to spread the musical love.
