Why, it’s just like the late 1960s – Blessing Force have teamed up with Truck to present a two-day happening in February. It’s not a gig – oooooh, no. It’s not a festival. It is, in their words, a ‘two-day takeover,’ a term which can be deconstructed into meaning some bands are playing, and there will be some things to look at.
The Old Book Binders on Green Street, Oxford, is where this neo-psychedelic 48 Hour Technicolour Dream will take place. Things will run from 5.00 pm on 12 February to 11.00 pm on 13 February; it isn’t clear whether sleep will interrupt this period, although the young roister-doister ketamine-fuelled mashheads don’t really do sleep. Allegedly. £6 will get you a one-day ticket, £10 secures a weekend pass.
What’ll you get? Well, music. Lots of it. Lots of good, lovely music. Jonquil, Pet Moon, Labyrinth Ear, Rhosyn, Jack Goldstein & Roo Bhasin (from Fixers), Chad Valley, Coloureds, Ute, Sisterland and Neon Pulse. With more to be confirmed. You’ll also have things to look at: installations by Tinhead (aka Foals’ illustrator), Dave Ma, Valeska Hykel, Seb Thomas, Charlotte Freeston and Amy Honour.
According to the organisers: “BF#1 is a two day takeover by the musicians and artists of Oxford’s Blessing Force community. The Warehouse space will be transformed by sound, light and 3d installation, turning the space including the stages into one giant set housing both the audience and the bands.”
Well, butter our muffins. See you there?
