OCM = Events + Education + Performances in the Community + Commissioning + Producing + Music Development. All of that often takes the form of interesting and innovative things to do and see in Oxford, and OCM have just announced details of their Spring 2011 season, which is full of such goodies.
From the source:
“Our spring season is bursting with extraordinary, intriguing and rousing new music. We bring you musicians at the cutting edge of what’s out there to discover and this season many of them are Oxford based, highlighting the unique talent our vibrant city has to offer. As always, we also bring you the most exciting musical innovators from abroad and have sought out new spaces and venues to give each event its own individuality.”
That’s nice, innit? There are full details of everything in the season on the OCM website, but here are a few of our choice picks:
- Audiograft, 16 February: promoting awareness of the auditory as a means of artistic expression, with artists including Rhodri Davies, Max Eastley and Stephen Cornford, and an evening of Fluxus and Wandelweiser music
- Editions of You, 26 March: self-publishing and self-releasing musicians, and their handmade special editions and work. There’s also a Zine Fair on 9 April at the Oxford Castle, where you can buy some of these editions
- OCM Open 2011, 11 June: a showcase of innovative bands and performers from the Oxford area. If you’re interested in taking part in this event, there are details for submitting your details on the OCM website.
