‘Editions of You’ seeks DIY artists and musicians

We’ve previously mentioned ‘Editions of You’ as part of Oxford Contemporary Music’s Spring 2011 season. Want to get involved? The people behind the initiative – Oxford Brookes University Popular Music Research Unit, Oxford Contemporary Music and O3 Gallery in association with Oxford Castle – are looking for independent artists to contribute.

They’re after “self-releasing musicians who create their own hand-made or distinctively packaged music releases,” as well as “artists who create their own fanzine publications”. If you’re one of those – or hey, even both – send information, demos and links to Lisa Busby at Oxford Brookes University, by 4 March.

‘Editions of You’ will comprise the following events:

  • Launch party and private view at the O3 Gallery: Friday 25 March. 6 pm–8 pm. Includes local DJ collective ‘Shit! I can DJ’ present a very special guest
  • Exhibition at the O3 Gallery: Saturday 26 March–Sunday 24 April. 12 pm–5 pm weekdays, 11 am–4 pm weekends. Closed Mondays
  • Live Thursdays: Forming part of the O3 Gallery’s performance programme ‘Alternative Thursdays’, these evening events will showcase performances from self releasing artists, bands and DJs, and create a forum for discussions with the leading UK thinkers on the subject. O3 Gallery: 31 March, 7 April, 14 April, 21 April. 6 pm–8 pm
  • Zine fair: Buy special edition releases and music zines you won’t find in the shops at this all-day event in Castle Street Square. Oxford Castle: 9 April. 11 am–6 pm
