More evidence that Oxford music is slowly taking over the wireless: Tamara Parsons-Baker is the latest local musician, following the likes of Black Hats and Secret Rivals, whose music is getting played on Tom Robinson’s diverse and supportive BBC 6 Music show Fresh On The Net. Her track ‘Hang My Picture’ will be featured on the 14 March show, which goes out at 1.00 am, and will be available via all of the regular Listen Again/iPlayer-type shenanigans. Alongside this, Parsons-Baker will soon be interviewed and play some live songs on Ruth Barnes’ Resonance FM show The Other Woman – the only radio show with an all-female playlist.
Parsons-Baker is also launching a new band, The Martyrs, with a gig at Oxford’s Cellar, on 31 March. The show, which costs £5, sees the new act supporting Samuel Zasada (now with added Bethany Weimers), and includes a rare support slot from Little Fish’s Ju.
