What’s that? A new promoter in Oxford? Another one? That’s right. Adventures Close To Home are bringing some interesting, eclectic stuff to the live performance table, though. Here’s the skinny on what their aims are, courtesy of them:
“Adventures Close to Home is a non-profit purveyor of occasional DIY and independent music events in Oxford, run by Rob and Emma. With an eclectic booking policy, encompassing experimental, folk, drone, anti-folk, indie-pop, psychedelic and noise shows (essentially anything that gets us excited), we aim to program multimedia events in interesting and unusual spaces in Oxford, after a number of years successfully doing the same in Edinburgh.
“It seems like there’s a real niche for bringing this stuff to Oxford, and we’re keen to create a more informal, community based ethos to our shows, where perceived boundaries between performer, audience and promoter can be broken down, and we can all have a good time outside of the norms of the ‘mainstream’.”
Lovely jubbly Rodders, but what does that mean in terms of actual things that us music-lovers can go and experience? Well, here’s what they’ve got lined up so far…
