Fixers and The Winchell Riots at Reading / Leeds Festival 2011

Courtesy of BBC Introducing, here’s some live footage of Fixers and The Winchell Riots who both played Reading and Leeds Festival recently. Looks like they had a great time (this video is from their Reading performances), and it seems that they went down very well, no?

Phil McMinn of The Winchell Riots – who featured The Half Rabbits’ Michael Weatherburn on guitar for these shows – let us know how it went for them:

“Reading & Leeds was amazing – Leeds was a mudbath, but Reading was really a milestone for us as a band. The sun was going down, and perhaps because it was a bit more ‘local’, there were people there to see us play, so it felt like we were ‘representing Oxford’ completely. All I can really remember from it is running around in circles on the stage during ‘Kandahar Road’, watching my three best friends playing their hearts out, thinking “I will never forget this moment” and then nearly slipping on a cable.

“Backstage juice: I got physically stuck in front of Matt Bellamy from Muse’s golf cart as he was being driven to the main stage. He looked at me like I had just stolen his wallet, very unamused, but then 30 seconds later he was playing to a capacity festival, so I forgive him. We watched Frank Turner on the Main Stage with Ben & Tarrant from Dive Dive playing with him, which was pretty heartwarming – how’s that for representing Oxford?!”
