The Duke’s Cut on Oxford’s Park End Street is running a Battle Of The Bands competition throughout October and November. The competition, which will raise money for the Helen & Douglas House hospice care charity, starts on Tuesday 11 October and then runs weekly until the end of November.

Whilst there’s an entry fee – but remember, this is all for a good cause – there are some tempting prizes on offer. The top prize is a full-day recording session, worth over £400, at Oxford’s newest recording facility, Evolution Studios. There are also weekly prizes of five cases of Wychwood Beer for the best bands.

The criteria for entry are that bands must be original, and able to provide a demo to submit with their application.
