Idiosyncratic, interesting and innovative promoters Adventures Close To Home have a couple of shows lined up for December, continuing their penchant for bringing off-centre and rare performances to Oxford.
On 3 December at the China Shop Gallery (on St Mary’s Road in Oxford) ex-Oxfordian and folk traditionalist Sharron Kraus will be joined by Fursaxa, aka Tara Burke, who produces genuinely haunting, delicate worlds of multilayered vocals and spooky melodies. The show starts at 8.00 pm and costs £5. Tickets are available here.
17 December has Alasdair Roberts and David A. Jaycock performing at Modern Art Oxford. Roberts, who previously played in Appendix Out, plays strangely distorted blues folk with a decidedly weird edge. Jaycock continues an out-there guitar tradition in the vein of John Fahey, Jack Rose and Ben Chasny’s Six Organs Of Admittance. This one starts at 7.30 pm and costs £5. Tickets are available from the Modern Art Oxford website.
Keep up to date with Adventures Close To Home at their website. Hopefully they’ll continue to provide Oxford with unique, leftfield events.
