‘Cracked blues sister’ Liz Green coming to the Jericho in Oxford

Here’s something that promises to be a bit out of the ordinary. Liz Green, described by Mojo magazine as ‘Britain’s new cracked blues sister’, will be at the Jericho in Oxford on 10 December. According to The Observer “her delicate songs are a perfect knot of grassroots jazz, muddy blues and homespun folk, and recall the kiss of a needle on a brittle 78″, and according to us, that sounds good. She’s touring to mark the release of her debut O, Devotion!.

Bringing the Oxford contingent will be the rather magical Brickwork Lizards, who provide a unique combination of oud, cello, guitar and trumpet over hip-hop inflected Middle Eastern rhythms. Also appearing will be The Hound Reels, aka Nick Ruck, from the previously-ended Roundheels.

‘Early bird’ tickets are available for £5 from here. Once they’re gone, it’ll be £6 in advance, or more on the door.
