Smilex back for tenth anniversary gigs

After deciding back in early 2011 to draw a line (a pencil line, at least) under playing live shows, noisy fun-drenched punks Smilex have decided to mark the occasion of their tenth anniversary as a band.

Smilex have been a regular, valued part of the local music scene for the decade that’s passed since their first EP, ‘Beg For It’, and worked hard on a blinding live show that has included – on separate occasions, if not at the same time – nudity, liquid-drenched shouting, broken glass and hefty slabs of noisy rock and roll. They’ll be playing at the Jericho in Oxford on 2 March, along with The Cellar Family and Deer Chicago, and at Fat Lil’s in Witney on 25 April, with Half Decent, Moon Moth and Inspecta.

Recording-wise Smilex are also finalising their long-time-coming new album La Petite Mort, and over this year will be sharing their archive of previous recordings via SoundCloud and YouTube. Keep on keeping on at their website.

For fun, here’s their ‘Sex 4 Sale’ video from a few years back:
