After deciding back in early 2011 to draw a line (a pencil line, at least) under playing live shows, noisy fun-drenched punks Smilex have decided to mark the occasion of their tenth anniversary as a band.
Smilex have been a regular, valued part of the local music scene for the decade that’s passed since their first EP, ‘Beg For It’, and worked hard on a blinding live show that has included – on separate occasions, if not at the same time – nudity, liquid-drenched shouting, broken glass and hefty slabs of noisy rock and roll. They’ll be playing at the Jericho in Oxford on 2 March, along with The Cellar Family and Deer Chicago, and at Fat Lil’s in Witney on 25 April, with Half Decent, Moon Moth and Inspecta.
Recording-wise Smilex are also finalising their long-time-coming new album La Petite Mort, and over this year will be sharing their archive of previous recordings via SoundCloud and YouTube. Keep on keeping on at their website.
