The curiously-named Majick Music Group are running Battle Of The Bands competitions in various English counties throughout the first half of this year. The Oxfordshire slice of the competition pie runs from January to April 2012, and the second round of gigs take place in February and March, with the following line-ups:

16 February: The Red Lion, Witney
Erica + more TBC

18 February: Port Mahon, Oxford
Traps / Rettes / Thy Little Reds / White Heather

24 February: The Swan, Wantage
Sonus / Yellow Fever / In Decadence / Refugees Of Culture

8 March: The Chapel, Banbury
Half Decent / Quiet For The Speaker / Lost Cords / Lest We Forget

Punters can vote for their favourite band at each gig. Everything leads up to the final, which is on 7 April at O2 Academy in Oxford, with ‘real industry judges’ (not our phrase) picking winners. Prizes include recording time, guitar pedals, equipment vouchers, t-shirt printing and more.

Majick Music Group are accepting entries for next year’s Battle Of The Bands – so any Oxfordshire bands that are up for that can put themselves forward by emailing majick@live.co.uk with the subject line ‘Oxford 2013 Entry’.
