One of Oxford’s most eclectic and adventurous promoters, Gappy Tooth Industries, will shortly celebrate a full decade of presenting weird and wonderful music to Oxford’s gig-going public.
Their May gig will mark the occasion; being the 240th monthly show Gappy Tooth has arranged so far! In response to the question “Are Gappy Tooth doing anything special for this gig?”, main Gapster Richard Catherall replies “All GTI nights are special, because no other promoter in Oxfordshire or beyond will ever put these acts together onstage again.” That sums up their approach – taking seemingly random (and often jarringly different) selections of musicians and bands, putting them on stage and letting the audience decide what to make of it.
The first Gappy Tooth Industries night, in May 2002, presented acts called Morph, B.W. Truesdale and abel-jones. Since then, most Oxfordshire bands, and a heap of out-of-towners, have graced the Gappy Tooth stage.
