Calling All Enthusiasts is a new gig-promoting outfit set up by one of the folks involved in Adventures Close To Home, who previously brought artists like Alasdair Roberts, Sharron Kraus and Viking Moses to Oxford. Adventures Close To Home recently announced their ‘early retirement’ from gig promoting, for now at least, and so Calling All Enthusiasts is picking up where they left off in terms of bringing interesting music – with a slight emphasis on the indie-pop side of things – into town.
Their first event is a launch gig for The Lovely Eggs, a Lancastrian two-piece who are about to release their Gruff Rhys-produced new single, ‘Allergies’. Their press states that they’re “a veritable smorgasbord of musical and lyrical influences from US alt rock, riot grrrl, anti-folk, twee British pop and Frank Sidebottom”. Support comes in the form of two local acts, Secret Rivals and Robots With Souls.
This all takes place in the cosy environs of Oxford’s Port Mahon, on 14 May, with doors at 8.00 pm and an advance ticket price of £6.50. Find out more about the event here, and buy tickets at WeGotTickets.
