Irregular Folk is a new series of nights at The Cellar in Oxford, which introduces itself this Saturday evening (27 October). Its organisers describe it as “the first of a new series of nights at the Cellar that’s dedicated to delving in to the beauteous world of alt-folk and beyond… It’s going to be like its name in frequency – only happening when we get the right line up – and in style.”
That sounds nice to us. The gig this Saturday will include performances by Maia (who have previously supported Anais Mitchell and the Unthanks), Oxford’s The Yarns, and the finger-pickin’ Nick Edward Harris. It’ll run from 8.00 pm until 11.00 pm when some kind of modern boom-boom dance music presumably begins to kick off as The Cellar becomes a very different environment for one of its club nights.
