Fixers frontman Jack Goldstein has organised an event in January 2013 that will feature performances of John Cage works by a number of Oxfordshire musicians. An Evening Of John Cage, to take place on 12 January 2013 at Oxford’s Port Mahon, will include readings of Cage’s ‘Indeterminacy’, ‘4’33’ and ‘Water Walk’.
To perform the pieces, Goldstein and fellow Fixer Roo Bhasin will be joined by Max Levy (aka King Of Cats) and Ian Staples (a founding member of free improv group Red Square). The Oxford-based microlabel fourier transform will be releasing a very limited edition cassette to coincide with the show, which will be available to buy on the night and then from the fourier transform website.
A blog has been put together to help promote the event as well as to collate video and audio of Cage pieces, and the more traditionally-minded amongst you may wish to peruse the Facebook event page..
Tickets for An Evening Of John Cage are now on sale from WeGotTickets, for a very reasonable £3.
