In the 1950s, a lot of people genuinely thought that by the year 2000 we’d all be flying around in hovercars, eating food in pill form, and would have replaced the pesky business of work with a selection of automated machines and robots. This would leave us with more time for the business of entertainment and enjoyment. That would’ve been nice, huh? Unfortunately, it hasn’t yet fully come to pass, and we’re still in wheeled automobiles, eating normal-size dinner, and, ugh, going to work. However, we do have things like the BBC Introducing in Oxford show, which provides a healthy dose of excellent entertainment for an hour a week, so it ain’t all bad, right? We’ve got the internet, too. That’s better than any flying car.
Here’s the full track listing for the show. You can listen to it from 9.00 pm on Sunday 11 November at BBC Oxford.
