Hey! What are your plans for the evening of Friday 12 April? They should be to get yourself over to the Wheatsheaf in Oxford, from 8.00 pm onwards, as that’s when MusicInOxford.co.uk is hosting the latest in our infrequent gigs, where we bundle up some of the best that Oxford has to offer with some interesting out-of-town-sounds.
Headlining will be Listing Ships, who jumble together the Krautrock sounds of the 1970s with a gliding, post-rock sensibility. They’ll be joined by Nottingham’s Grey Hairs, who play scuzz-rock in the knackered vein of US hardcore via classic grunge; Abandon – aka the guy that runs Blindsight Records, playing a darkly lush combo of shoegaze, misery-rock and noise; and Tiger Mendoza, tonight appearing as a one-man act with their frontman Ian playing and remixing his own work live. Want more? Oh, okay then – we’ll throw in a DJ set from solo ambient/electronica artist After The Thought, why not.
Tickets for this marvellous shindig are available for just £5 apiece, either on the door or in advance from WeGotTickets. If you’re the type that enjoys a Facebook event, well, we’ve got you covered.
By the magic of SoundCloud and BandCamp, here are sample tracks from each of the acts that’ll be playing the gig. See you there!
