A recent addition to the line-up for this year’s Cornbury Music Festival, which takes place at Great Tew Park on 5,6 and 7 July, has recently been announced.
Wilko Johnson will play the festival on Sunday 7 July. The guitarist of the unflinchingly popular Dr Feelgood in the 1970s has since been a mainstay of The Blockheads and continued a successful solo career. Johnson joins Squeeze, Van Morrison, Beverley Knight, Keane, Echo and the Bunnymen and Seth Lakeman in a strong line-up across the weekend.
A chipper Johnson had the following to say about playing Cornbury: “It seems that I am still being spared the final onslaught of my terminal cancer. As the memory of the Farewell Tour recedes I am feeling again the desire to get up on stage and do my thing while health allows – so that’s why I have decided to make some festival appearances during the summer. Our visit to Cornbury in 2011 was a happy one and I am delighted that we can return once more to this fine festival.”
Tickets for the festival, which is in its tenth year and alongside music also includes a ‘festival of words’ featuring Alan Davies, Julie Burchill and more, as well as comedy acts and entertainment for kids, are available for a variety of prices through the Cornbury Music Festival website.
