SoundCloud RoundUp for 26 June 2013

Hello! Welcome to what will hopefully be a regular selection from the Music in Oxford SoundCloud group. Every couple of weeks we hope to bring you some of the best tracks that have added to the group for your listening pleasure.

Veygas: ‘Cloud Nine’

Originally from South Wales, Veygas (aka John Veevers) likes “…playing the ‘computer’ as an instrument of aural excitement”. This slightly UK garage-tinged track is a bit more laid back than some of the others on his page but a good introduction nonetheless.

Custard Punch: ‘Kolo’

Custard Punch is a pseudonym for Tom from dream-pop heroes Grudle Bay’s more ambient, atmospheric tunes. A constant drone with distant street sounds and a repeating piano ramp up the dream factor here. One to stick on the ‘let’s see what he does next’ pile.

Gold Falls: ‘Frost’ (Electrohertz~ Lush Edit)

There are no winners or losers here… but if there was, this would probably win. This deep atmospheric edit remixes the original into a deep house track, keeping the originals’ space but with a throbbing kick at the centre. Warning: Definitely works better with headphones than on laptop speakers.

Charlie Levy: ‘Broken & Beat’

See? It’s not just random bits of electronica! Charlie’s posted quite few of her ‘acoustic pop’ tracks to the group over the past few weeks and this one’s probably my favourite so far. She’s has a great, natural sounding voice that carries the song well.

Pronk: ‘Life & Limb’

Big shiny pop with more than a little nod to classic synth-pop duos like Erasure and The Pet Shop Boys. Not a bad thing at all.

Isoline: ‘Zero Dark 140′ (mix)

More dubstep, but this time from the darker, murkier end of the genre. No tracklist for this 32-minute set, but some great mixing. One for the end of the night I reckon.

Add your tracks to the group!
