The Trophy Cabinet: Gliding / High Stakes

The melodic and ever-so-slightly-moody-sounding Trophy Cabinet have a new single out, and some interesting tales connected with it. The two-tracker, ‘Gliding’ / ‘High Stakes’, is available to stream or to purchase as a download or CD. Negotiating a similar indie-pop path to the House Of Love or even Felt, the single was inspired by the band’s involvement with photographer Rankin’s exhibition ‘ALIVE: In The Face Of Death’ which is currently showing at Liverpool’s Walker Art Gallery.

There’s a video of Rankin talking about the project here; he photographed the band and agreed to also allowed for one of the pictures to be used as the cover artwork for the new single. There’s a feature on the BBC’s The Culture Show this Saturday (13 July, 10.00 pm) which includes The Trophy Cabinet’s Phil Kelly discussing the project.

All profits raised from sales of ‘Gliding’ / ‘High Stakes’ will be donated to charities related to Rankin’s project, including Sobell House Hospice (Oxford), Claire’s House Children’s Hospice (Liverpool) and Myeloma UK.
