One of Oxford’s finest, Spring Offensive, decided to do the modern thing and crowdsource the funding for their debut album Young Animal Hearts. Since launching a PledgeMusic campaign in mid-October, and reaching their goal a mere ten days later, they’re currently at 119% of their planned total and still accepting pledges. This means that the album is definitely going ahead, and with a larger budget than planned!
As is usual with these things, the more you pledge, the more you get – anything from a tote bag to a limited edition screenprint to an acoustic guitar to a private gig. And, for the truly daring, a £5,000 pledge with apparently get you kidnapped – for those of you that are keen to spend some quality time alone with the band.
As they describe their plans for the money they’re raising for Young Animal Hearts, Spring Offensive say “we’ve recorded the music, and we’re putting together the artwork. It sounds great, it’ll look great. But we need your help funding the album’s release; from mixing and mastering, to manufacture, distribution and PR. We’re planning on self-releasing this, and we’re asking you to get us over the line.”
Find out all of the details, make a pledge, and see who else has got involved at the album’s PledgeMusic page.
Here’s a video they put together to tempt you into pledging… it also includes some excellent larking about from a street-based interloper. Keep watching to see what happens!
