Get your fill of hip ‘buzz’ bands – or, at least, a couple that seemed to be buzzing in the recent past – on Thursday 28 November at the O2 Academy, Oxford. They’ve got two separate gigs on that night: one from Palma Violets, one from Wild Beasts. Who’s buzzing now? Go find out for yourselves.
Oxford City Festival seems to be a banner slapped on pretty much any gig happening in Oxford in the week of 25 November, with a particularly eclectic line-up appearing at O2 Academy 2, Oxford on Friday 29 November. The Goggenheim will be supported by The Knights Of Mentis, The Mighty Redox and The Great Big Bargain. Why, it’s a cast of bands whose names start with ‘The’!
Slim pickings, perhaps, if it’s come to this – feeling the need to mention that “one of the UK’s most successful boy bands” Five will be at New Theatre in Oxford on Thursday 5 December. Get on down there if you’re a bit of a musical masochist…
Cooler stuff is afoot on Friday 6 December and Saturday 7 December: the inventive popsters Candy Says have set up a two-night run of dates at the Albion Beatnik Bookstore in Oxford. Their blurb promises not only “outrageous costumes” but also “exclusive projections”! What can they be?
The latest regular gig under the ‘Listening Room’ banner at the Old Fire Station in Oxford takes place on Sunday 8 December. They like to put on a mix of cool local stuff and some out-of-town action, and this gig is no different. Get along to catch Listing Ships and Duchess, along with London’s Miraculous Mule – “rock’n’roll-infused spirituals and dangerous blues”!
Full details of these and loads more gigs can be found in the events calendar.
