It’s been a while since D. Gwalia was around – rather too long, as his album In Puget Sound was one of the most unique and bewitching Oxford releases in recent years.
‘Annihilation Pair’ is a track, released a few days ago, from a forthcoming new album, The Iodine Trade. In what sounds like a conscious yet subtle shift away from the dreamy blurs of In Puget Sound, the track is simultaneously more and less song-like. Short and sweet it may be, but it’s no three-minute pop song; more vocal-led than previous work, it’s a levitating bubble of a track that displays a sense of delicacy and carefully-crafted sound.
Oh, and if you want to download it rather than stream it online, well, that’ll cost you a mere £1,000…
