After making a track a day available for the past short while, the kind chaps of Hot Hooves have now made all of their new album Nutritious Cascades free to stream through SoundCloud. They do say, though, that it may only be available for a few days, so you’d better get onto it soon!
The eleven track album is a concise distillation of the four-piece’s combined billion years of experience in bands (variously including Talulah Gosh, ATL and Les Clochards) and in music scenes both local, national and international (band member Mac has been at the heart of Oxford music for, well, ever). Very melodic, very rough-edged, very sardonic and very listenable, each track is a wee snippet of goodness, with songs that are as lyrically obtuse as they are plainly poppy.
There’s a release gig for Nutritious Cascades tonight – Saturday 18 January – at The Jericho Tavern in Oxford, where hard copies will be sold (along with a deal being offered on all three of Hot Hooves’ albums for a tenner. Failing that, grab a copy to own through all of the usual places…
