Pindrop Performances always put on interesting gigs, and they have a goodie lined up for Wednesday 16 April. Acoustic singer-songwriter Owen Tromans will be playing songs from his recent album Golden Margins, and in support there will be David Griffiths – presenting pieces from his recently-released book and CD Sinister A – and two ‘super folk pop acts’, Luckyfinger and James Summerfield. It’s all a-happening in the delightful little Albion Beatnik Bookstore in Oxford.
More good stuff from Pindrop Performances on Friday 18 April. New Yorker Thomas Truax has played in Oxford a lot before, and he’s very welcome to return with a gig at The Art Bar in Oxford. Hopefully he’ll bring along a selection of his weird and wonderful instruments! Good Oxford supports, too, with The August List and Huck doing their thing.
Truck Store on Oxford’s Cowley Road celebrate Record Store Day 2014 on Saturday 19 April with not only a billion good records to buy, but live music from 2.00 pm, including Dubwiser, We Aeronauts, The Dreaming Spires and a special set from Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly.
Round off Saturday 19 April with the ear-rinsing noise of Undersmile, who play The Cellar in Oxford, along with God Speed, Crows’ Reign and Girlpower. Several shades of metallic mayhem on offer; all of ’em worth your (ear-plugged) attention.
Local band good stuff: Hot Hooves, The Deputees and Spinner Fall play The Cellar, Oxford on Thursday 24 April. Noise-bothering fun.
Local band good stuff (more): Salvation Bill, Limbo Kids and After The Thought play The Cellar, Oxford on Friday 25 April. Pop-bothering strangeness (and the first gig run by new art/promoter types Idiot King).
Local band good stuff (even more): The Epstein, Bethany Weimers, Ags Connolly, Tamara Parsons-Baker and George Chopping are at The Shed Theatre in idyllic Charlbury on Friday 25 April. Acousic-y folk-y bothering niceness. (But beware the Friday night gig clash! Oo-er).
Local band good stuff (yep, a bit more): Balloon Ascents, Montmartre and Blood Red Stars play The Wheatsheaf, Oxford on Saturday 26 April. Okay, okay, not a fully local line-up, but it’s a Gappy Tooth gig, and they’re normally worth a pop.
Full details of these and loads more gigs can be found in the events calendar.
