Released at the start of February, The Pride EP is the debut release from Oxford ‘Balkan-gypsy-punk-ska’ band The Balkan Wanderers. Originality is always a good thing, and so an EP that “contains East-meets-West compositions, inspired by traditional Balkan artists (Amira Medunjanin, Šaban Bajramović) and punk/ska bands (Mano Negra, Bad Religion), and features both English and Croation lyrics” gets a thumbs up around here. Richly musical, subtly subversive and slightly deranged, it’s a pretty unique sound. The EP can be streamed for free (see below) or downloaded for just £2.
