Oliver Wilde: Initially arming himself with just one microphone, a guitar and a combination of internal conflicts, Oliver Wilde’s sound is stacked up with whispering guitar riffs, fragile vocal layers, slurring lap- steels, 8-bit tape loops, sanguine strings and DIY drum samples, leading to a lo-fi commotion of emotional outbursts and swirling sonic turbulence, washed down with moments of hushed delicacy that evoke the ghosts of his never-met mentors. His album A Brief Introduction To Unnatural Lightyears will be released on 22 July through Howling Owl Records on limited edition, hand crafted vinyl, compact disc and download.
Bethany Weimers: London born, Oxford raised alt-folk artist Bethany Weimers spent much of 2011 as a bit of a hermit, performing, recording and producing her debut album Harpsichord Row. The result is a beautifully atmospheric collection of songs with both folk and pop appeal, that draw the listener in with hooky melodies belying their darker content, poignantly exploring the human condition whilst remaining uplifting and life affirming.
The August List: Hailing from Dorset and now residing in a small barn perched on a hill in Oxfordshire, The August List are a boy/girl two-piece who play ‘backwards country/porch folk’ with a startling rock‘n’roll attitude. Acoustic guitars, kick drums, harmonicas and their voices are deployed with verve and passion on songs that take in life, love, death and making merry.
