America! Fuck yeah!

Oxford bands storming America

…well, perhaps not storming, but at least going over there to play some shows. You may have noticed in the MusicInOxford.co.uk Twitter feed that A Silent Film just announced their very first USA gig (in Boston). If not; pay more attention, the Twitter feed is over there, to the right. It’s probably available on your phone too, or something. Technological mashup, innit.

Anyway, following up on ASF’s news, Huck and the Handsome Fee have just jetted off on a six-week tour of America, which they’ve been putting together recently. They’ll start in New York, then head up to the North West before making their way through California, across Arizona and Nevada, to Denver, New Mexico, Texas, New Orleans… and possibly a few other places too.

Phew!

Want to welcome them back? Catch their homecoming show at The Wheatsheaf, Oxford on Saturday 9 October. Borderville are playing that show, as well. In the meantime, tell us… what other Oxfordshire bands have played in America?

  • Wilden

This Town Needs Guns, and I’m sure there must have been Truck regulars at Truck America, right? Bitches have been playing out on the West Coast too.

  • Beaver Fuel

    Dive Dive

Vade Mecum under the moniker Thieves are settled there, as have Swervedriver – aka Shake Appeal…

more recently Little Fish have recorded there and i do believe have rattled off a gig or three.

way back in the mists of time when Laker airways kicked off the cheap flights thingy, Sam & Patrick from The Quiet Men cashed their giros, bought one way tickets and busked their way round several dozen states in 6 months…..
