Here’s the new EP from DeadEye, a collaboration between producer Bosseye and MC Dead Ott. One half of Oxford hip-hop outfit Styxmen, Dead Ott is an Oxford-based musician who’s been creating tunes for a decade.
Take Aim includes seven tracks of pretty low-key and relaxed-sounding hip-hop, with recognisably British vocals and lyrics. It’s a selection that has quite a diversity in sound and style, yet which maintains a core ‘feel’ that might not be startlingly unique, but that is nonetheless a solid and diverting listen. ‘In Effect’ is a standout, with a loping and moody backdrop to an excellent staccato vocal flow.
Dead Ott will soon release a new solo album to follow his 2004 debut Stories From The Frontline, and Styxmen have a new album Styx & Bones on the way very soon.
