Playing tracks from their brand new album Not Kings, poppy types Candy Says will grace the bijou stage of Truck Store in Oxford on Thursday 29 May. It’s always worth getting to in-stores at Truck Store – live music + record shop + coffee for sale = all good!

The industrious types at the Bear On A Bicycle art/music collective are launching a new magazine, Urban Trees, with a gig at Truck Store on Friday 30 May. Yes, another Truck in-store! This one has Be Good, After The Thought and Salvation Bill. And another opportunity to sample the aforementioned music, records and coffee.

The always reliable metal promoter Skeletor has a gig at O2 Academy 2, Oxford on Saturday 31 May. Fetch my earplugs, matron, as Prospekt, Brutai, Jabroni Sandwich, Ignite The Sky and Mutagenocide will be thrashing out all flavours of noise. What’s better than noise, eh? Even if you don’t like it, you can still appreciate the quietness after the gig.

A bit of a quiet week from 2 June on, but there are a couple of things to direct your lugholes towards. Neo-grunge types with an awful, awful name Drenge play O2 Academy 2, Oxford on Wednesday 4 June, along with Domino Records-signed The Bohicas. Party like it’s 1991.

There’s an epic line-up in store at O2 Academy 2, Oxford on Saturday 7 June: regular promoter It’s All About The Music is presenting the they’re-back-after-thirteen-years Ultrasound, with a colossal selection of local supports in the form of Sinking Witches, Peerless Pirates, Mark Cope, Glenda Huish and Webs & Marionettes. All for seven quid! Can’t say fairer than that.
