MusicInOxford.co.uk's Gigs Of Note

Gigs of note for 16 June 2014-29 June 2014

Tuesday 17 June: Alexis Taylor / Be Good @ The Art Bar, Oxford: Oxford promoters Pindrop have a long history of bringing good stuff to this town, and continue this by bringing Alexis Taylor, of pop experimentalists Hot Chip as well the ‘improvised/non-improvised music project’ About Group, to The Art Bar in Oxford. Support comes from Oxford’s Be Good.

Thursday 19 June: The Bug / Flowdan / Zyklon Sound @ The Cellar, Oxford: Those seeking some heavy, heavy bass vibrations should get themselves along to this. Late-night club Deep Cover is presenting The Bug, aka Kevin Martin (formerly of many things including GOD and Techno Animal), along with grime pioneer Flowdan. Should be pretty intense…

Friday 20 June-Sunday 22 June: Tandem Festival @ Hill End Outdoors Education Centre, Farmoor: The first Tandem Festival. This ‘pan-European music festival with a strong eco ethos’ has a huge selection of musicians and bands on offer, along with what promises to be a friendly, unique atmosphere.

Thursday 26 June: Glass Animals @ The Jericho Tavern, Oxford: Glass Animals seem to be becoming a ‘next big thing from Oxford’ band, with all kinds of plaudits and positive press springing up. They launch their debut album Zaba with an Oxford date that’s sure to be very busy and rambunctious.

Friday 27 June: All Tamara’s Parties with The Epstein / Julia Meijer / Sephine Llo @ St Michael at the North Gate, Oxford: Yet another selection of top-notch acoustic sets from some of Oxford’s best and most interesting artists, in a lovely location. All Tamara’s Parties know their onions!

Saturday 28 June: The Mighty Cadillacs / Blunderbuster / The August List @ The Wheatsheaf, Oxford: Help primo Oxford promoters Gappy Tooth Industries celebrate their 12th birthday at this gig, with a bit o’blues, a bit o’rock and a bit o’country twang. Gappy Tooth are renowned for eclectic, fun line-ups, and this special birthday gig maintains the tradition.

Full details of these and loads more gigs can be found in the events calendar.
