The Collector is a forthcoming short film by writer/director Andrew Rainnie. It’s based on a short story by Jonathan Lethem, and deals with the experiences of a character with OCD. Part of the film will be shot at Oxford’s Ultimate Picture Palace, a location hand-picked by the team’s location assistant, with the cinema decked out as the interior of a music venue. The production team are after an Oxford-based band to appear in these scenes.
Interested bands should be of an indie/pop/rock flavour – sorry grindcore/gabba outfits, your cinematic time will come – and be available for filming on 28 October between 11.00 am and 4.00 pm. As the film’s team are for the most part volunteers, and the budget is small, no payment can be offered, but any expenses will be covered. You’ll also get the chance to, y’know, be in a film, and your music is likely to be on the soundtrack. What’s more, you’d get a ‘Special thanks’ credit, DVD copies, premiere tickets, and other such gifts that befit a new movie star.
The Collector should be completed and released early next year. If you’re interested, contact Andrew Rainnie through IndieGoGo, and tell him we sent you.
