Foals live session for KCRW

Foals have been criss-crossing America for the past few weeks, with a schedule taking in all kinds of live shows, interviews and shenaniganitude. They recently rocked up at the California studios of independent public radio station KCRW, and recorded a live session for their Morning Becomes Eclectic show. The show has an impressive thirty year history, including performances from artists like Neil Young, Paul McCartney and Beck (to select three at random).

So there you have it – Foals: the new Neil Young.

Check out the session on KCRW’s website, to see the band perform seven tracks from Total Life Forever as well as doing a bit of interviewage. Also, it’s an opportunity to remind ourselves of the rare beauty that is a Travis Bean guitar. Here’s a snippet:

    no, you can’t tell – its been removed! maybe it was the shame of having added a cabasa player?! btw did anyone see the nme? yannis is in the top 20 of the cool list! and they explain why: cos he mentions his best mates in interviews! ;-)x

    Yannis must be cool, anyone who utters the immortal words ‘dont f#cking touch me, do you know who i am’ in public has to be cool…..rite?

    Young Knives should have been on the list (genuinly cool people)

    When did Rivers Cusmo become cool again! (i missed that memo)

    Dont know if shes on the list or not but Laura Blood Red Shoes is at the top of my ‘cool list’

    HEH I DIDNT A FREIND OF MINE PUT HER HANDS ON HIS SHOULDERS TO SQUEEZRE PAST HIM (SHE HAD NO CLUE WHO HE WAS NOT BEING A FAN OF SKINS AN ALL) AS HE WAS STANDING AT THE DOORWAY BLOCKING ANYONE COMING IN AND OUT.

    oops was not trying to start anything personal about yannis, have my own opinions but they are best kept quiet i guess! was merely saying that using an interview to just sell your best mates has now become a qualification of cool.

    i like ollie (drums) but the the young knives should not be in any cool list!

    was really happy to see janelle monae as no.2 in cool list as she really is!

    thom yorke: i have had the pleasure of talking with several times thoughout my musical life from early (pre re-release of creep) to around six months ago: he has always, despite me not knowing him and essentially being a fan ‘bothering’ him, been really friendly and responsive to my comments and so i always find it strange when people say he is unapproachable as he has managed to be nice to me (something people i know well sometimes have trouble with!). he’s a nice dude!

    i like people touching me btw! whether they know who i am or not! especially girls… ;-)x

    Im actually not trying to bad mouth Yannis either (as I said I genuinely thought it was funny (the capitals were not used as an expression of anger I simply couldn’t be arsed starting again by the time I looked up and realised heh)

    hes a very interesting front man so id be a disappointed if he didn’t have a few whacky traits.

    I really enjoy early Radiohead interviews back when Thom was a mouthy little so and so….I demand entertainment from my rock stars at the very least and he was very entertaining (and a lot of the swipes he made about lazy journalism I think were justified so no harm done)

    singer from Maximo Park…Paul whats his name….now theirs a ‘whacky’ guy!

    if were talking controversy and front men though I cant think of many that pip Morrissey

    im lucky if anyone wants to talk to me after a show never mind have a cheeky feel.
