Moody alterno-popstrels The Half Rabbits will be heading studiowards in November to record four brand new tracks. These will be bundled together as a download-only EP, to be released in early 2011, and the man at the controls for the session will be the somewhat legendary producer Pat Collier.
Collier was the bass player for punk outfit The Vibrators in the late 1970s, before switching to production throughout the eighties and beyond. His gigantic ‘artists what I have worked with’ list includes luminaries such as Primal Scream and the Jesus & Mary Chain, as well as a massively diverse set of artists spanning everything from House Of Love to Kingmaker, New Model Army to the Wonderstuff. He’s also hooked up with other Oxford bands in the past, working on releases by both Swervedriver and the Candyskins.
Most importantly, Collier produced the Katrina & the Waves mega-globa-hit ‘Walking On Sunshine’, hence the superb title of this news piece. We expect the Half Rabbits to come out of the session with a new, unexpectedly sunny disposition.
You can catch the Half Rabbits playing at one of this year’s Audioscope events on 6 November, alongside Billy Mahonie, The Rock of Travolta, Dieter Moebius and many more.
