Event Navigation
Michael Cassidy is a singer songwriter from Paisley. Although not easily definable, Michael’s music is best described as alternative folk with an emphasis on melody. Michael sites a great variety of influences ranging from folk heavyweights such as Richard Thompson and John Martyn to more contemporary acts such as Rufus Wainwright and Radiohead.
Hard work is starting to pay off for Michael after playing many a gig in and around Glasgow he was asked to support Ben Howard on his UK tour after supporting him at a one off show in Newcastle. This took Michael on the road for longer than he had been before which could only help him progress as a musician. As well as the tour he has been asked to support the likes of Josh T Pearson, King Krule & Nathaniel Rateliff. On top of this he has just finished recording on his debut album, produced by Calum Malcolm. This is due to be released at the end of the year.
Inspired by adventure and loss, Bec Sandridge’s newly anticipated EP, Wild Heart, paints six tales decorated in nostalgia and wonder. As listeners we are guided throughout the streets of Los Angeles, New York and London by haunting yet sweet and catchy vocal melodies, majestic trumpet lines and shuffling drums and piano. Working with producers Mark Myers (The Middle East) and Tony Dupe (Holly Throsby), Wild Heart is a more mature and sure ‘Bec Sandridge’ sound; we are welcomed in to listen to a secret.
Though from the small sea-side town of Stanwell Park, NSW, at twenty-two, Sandridge has shared the stage with acts as varied as Half Moon Run, Husky, Passenger, Diesel, Rachel Sermanni, Andy Bull, Owl Eyes, Stu Larsen and Adalita (Magic Dirt) throughout the UK, US and Australia.
