Jazz Elite Concerts is a series of monthly events being held at St Michael at the North Gate church in the centre of Oxford. The concerts, presented by a collaborative team from piano restorer Taylor’s Pianos in Abingdon and jazz promoter Fortissimo, take place on the last Wednesday of every month, with each starting at 8.00 pm.
On 27 July there’s Rob Terry Trio, a highlight of this year’s Oxford Jazz Festival, playing a mix of jazz, afro-Cuban and Latin-style music, combining arranged and improvised music. Tickets are £8 or £5 concessions.
31 August has Theo Jackson & Nathaniel Facey, a duo combining Facey’s alto sax and Jackson’s vocals and piano. Again, tickets are £8 or £5 concessions.
On 28 September you can see Asaf Sirkis. Sirkis has played drums with some of Europe’s most well-known jazz outfits, including Gilad Atzmon, Tim Garland, Larry Coryell, Jeff Berlin, Chick Corea and Gwilym Simcock. He’ll be appearing in a trio along with guitarist Tassos Spiliotopoulos and bassist Yaron Stavi. Tickets for this show are £10 or £6 concessions.
Tickets for all of the events will be available on the door, or can be purchased in advance by calling Paul Jefferies on 07710 545555.
