Alex James Presents Harvest

Alex James Presents Harvest: ex-Blur cheesemeister staging music and food festival

If you believe that food is the new rock’n’roll, then the awkwardly-named festival Alex James Presents Harvest is a four-day event that might be for you. Taking place from 9 to 12 September at Kingham, near Chipping Norton, it combines a line-up of not only music but also, er, cookery.

So, if the music isn’t for you – The Kooks headlining, along with KT Tunstall, Eliza Doolittle, The Feeling, Athlete, The Divine Comedy and more – maybe the food stuff will float your gastronomic boat. The ‘outdoor cooking theatre’ will host talks and demos from culinary big hitters like Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Richard Corrigan and Jay Rayner, along with a whole host of other foodies. Oxford acts Charly Coombes & The New Breed and The Anydays will be joining the proceedings, although it’s not clear whether they’ll be playing music or making omelettes. Or both.

The whole shebang raises money for Teenage Cancer Trust, which provides units in NHS hospitals for teenagers and young adults with cancer. Tickets are £105 per adult for the whole weekend, including camping, with a variety of other options available (including more costly ’boutique camping’ for the swankier amongst you).

That really is a terrible music line up.
