Despite the obvious audacity of deciding to play a show on the same night as one of MusicInOxford.co.uk’s monthly gigs at The Wheatsheaf, it certainly sounds like Richmond Fontaine – along with support Laura Gibson – went down very well indeed at The Bullingdon. Here are some pics…

    I’d never heard of RM, but the playthrough of this LP was gorgeous – sort of Low meets Springsteen in the Double R diner.  I admin that when they took a break and came back on for some oldies it did less for me, but everyone else seemed happy, so I was probably just tired of the worst beer in Oxford by that point.

    What’s that? Don’t drink beer at every gig? you have some rum ideas…

    I’d only heard these guys when shooting Truck this year, when it was just the duo. Gotta say they were much better as the full band, and I loved the contrast from their new album compared the the older stuff when they just completely rocked out. Beer wise, I was just happy to find a pint in oxford for a couple of quid regardless of how it tasted.
