Oxfam was born in Oxford, and so it’s fitting that a few Oxfordshire-based Oxjam Musical Festival events have been lined up for this year’s campaign. Oxjam is a national initiative which sees eager music folk giving up their time to run musical fundraising events; since it kicked off in 2006 it’s involved over 40,000 people and raised over £1.5 million.
On 14 October at the Bullingdon in Oxford, £5 will get you in to see The Insight, Dropout, 1000 Mile Highway, Sara Silveira, Flights Of Helios and George Chopping. On 15 October get down to the Port Mahon in Oxford for Cat Matador, The Cooling Pearls and ToLiesel – that too will be £5.
On 21 October there’s Didcot Rocks, a gig at Didcot’s Marlborough Club, which will see Deer Chicago, Black Hats and Half Naked take to the stage from 7.00 pm onwards. Tickets are £5 in advance or £6 on the door, and available here.
Oxjam Oxford Takeover takes place on 22 October, with live music from midday until late at a variety of venues in Oxford. Tickets are £8 for entry to the whole of the following:
- O3 Gallery, midday to 6.00 pm: We Are Goose, The Right Hooks, Prohibition Smoker’s Club, Nikki Loy, Wild Swim, Tiger Mendoza, Two Busketeers, Sol Samba
