What’s that, you young tinker? You want a new edition of Nightshift? Oh, go on then, here’s one. Think yourself lucky that kindly old Uncle Ronan Nightshift works so tirelessly to bring you this fine publication every month. Now off to bed with you! Go and read the new edition under the covers! It’s available in shops and venues throughout Oxfordshire as well as in a downloadable form.

This month there’s a nice long interview with multi-talented musician Asher Dust, lots of news from the local music scene, and reviews of new releases from Richard Walters, Abandon, Vienna Ditto, Shaker Heights and MacGillivray. There’s a comprehensive round-ups of gigs for the month, an introduction to Grudle Bay, a look back at what was going on in Oxford music five, ten and twenty years ago, and this issue’s Demos section has Dallas Don’t as the demo of the month and Trapdoor in the Demo Dumper.

    No, it ain’t broke, there really are no live reviews. Early January is always quiet but this year was particularly so. Most Nightshift contributors took a month out from reviewing and most of the those gigs that were on were acts who I’ve reviewed recently already. I would’ve done the metal gig on the 7th but circumstances got in the way. Back to normal next time.
