Truck 2012 tickets on sale 15 February; the Barn Stage returns!

As recently reported, Truck festival has dodged an unfortunate end and will this year be run by new organisers Y Not. Taking place on 20 and 21 July 2012 at the tried and trusted location of Hill Farm, Steventon, this year’s Truck will be its fifteen anniversary, and the organisers are promising a ‘Back To Basics’ approach to, as they say, “return to all that was great about the event”.

This will apparently see a return to the old-style layout (after the different one used last year), as well as the rebirth of the much-loved Barn Stage, which routinely played host in the past to fine selections of bands at the noisier/rockier end of things.

Cheaper-price Early Bird tickets will go on sale at 9.00 am on 15 February – keep your eye on the Truck website. These special tickets, priced at £59 for the whole weekend, once gone, will make way for regular-price tickets at £69. The organisers have guaranteed that after this there will be no further discount tickets.

I personally hated the Barn stage.  Sounded awful and smelt of poo poo.

Good to see Truck back, however.

Yes – I was never a fan of the Barn stage, partly because of the difficult sound and partly because it was impossible to see anyone popular in there without getting there an hour early.  And I thought the new layout last year was one of the best things about the festival, so it’s a shame that’s being lost.  I assume it was too expensive to repeat, particularly with this year’s cheaper price tag.

the barn used to be great when it was on the insdie bit and not the larger, even poo-ier bit! if u fancy revisting some of those sets, check out quickfix’s new live field recordings archive: http://soundcloud.com/quickfixrecordingslive – enjoy! ;-)x
